Explores realms of possibility and conversation around two contrasting materials

HARD/SOFT: Textiles and Ceramics in Contemporary Art is a grand exhibition of the works of 40 artists from around the world. It showcases sculptures, installations and paintings made using craft techniques such as embroidery, knotting, and weaving, as well as sculpting, wedging, firing and more. The works are presented with a veritable smorgasbord of interdisciplinary  approaches that include and combine visual and applied arts, architecture, music, and digital space. Textiles and ceramics hold cultural significance for communities in Austria; they have become intertwined with economic and political systems. The narrative of the aluminium bottle caps of El Anatsui’s renowned tapestries share poetic similitude. On display is Terra Firma, 2020.
