Explores realms of possibility and conversation around two contrasting materials
HARD/SOFT: Textiles and Ceramics in Contemporary Art is a grand exhibition of the works of 40 artists from around the world. It showcases sculptures, installations and paintings made using craft techniques such as embroidery, knotting, and weaving, as well as sculpting, wedging, firing and more. Terra Firma, 2020, a gleaming metallic, cloth-like sculpture by Ghanaian sculptor, El Anatsui, is one of the highlights of the programme. The massive, unconventional, wall-hanging tapestry undulates on the wall and spills unto the gallery floor.
