Highlighting beauty from within contexts of sociopolitical complexity and struggle
Irapuru is a group exhibition at Goodman Gallery, London that is named after a large-scale textile work by Brazilian artist, Laura Lima. ‘Iraparu’ is also the name for a tiny Brazilian ‘music wren’, celebrated in folklore music for having the widest repertoire of songs and complex harmonies of any creature in the Amazonian region. The exhibition features a new grand metal textile by El Anatsui.
