An exceptional glimpse into the lives of Africa’s most revered and powerful figures
Louvre Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, presents an unprecedented celebration of material culture from the African continent in an exhibition titled; Kings and Queens of Africa: Forms and Figures of Power. An ode to powerful kingdoms and civilizations that have significantly influenced Africa and the world, the exhibition features hundreds of works that tell stories of authority and cultural significance, including artifacts lost during the colonial period. It showcases the mastery of Africans at carving, painting, and tapestry techniques with works from stalwarts such as El Anatsui and Abdoulaye Konaté.
