Started in 2002, Socle du Monde is Denmark's oldest biennale focused on contemporary art

Socle du Monde Biennale is organised by HEART – Herning Museum of Contemporary Art. It is named after Piero Manzoni’s groundbreaking sculpture, “Socle du Monde”, one of the main masterpieces in the HEART collection.  Originally planned for 2020, this year’s edition, themed “Welcome Back My Friends to the Show that Never Ends”, features a wide range of works; paintings, installations, sculptures and performances. The Biennale will take place in 7 stages. El Anatsui stars in Stages 5 & 6: The Past and the Future which feature artists that use  textiles in their works in reference to the city’s history of cloths production.
