A large Axel Vervoordt exhibition curated by Alistair Hicks

In his 1908 essay “Ornament and Crime”, Adolf Loos declared that you could not be decorative and modern. He makes no good arguments for this outrageous claim, just asserts it. Axel Vervoordt has gathered together a group of artists whose works are entirely opposed to Loos’ edict. The exhibition is dominated by Turkish artists like Fahrelnissa Zeid, Nilbar Güres, Asli Cavusoglu and Cansu Cakar. Other artists on show include Kamrooz Aram, Waqas Khan, Zheng Guogu, Nikita Alexeev and El Anatsui. This exhibition is supported by Turkey One Association.
