A large Axel Vervoordt exhibition curated by Alistair Hicks
In his 1908 essay “Ornament and Crime”, Adolf Loos declared that you could not be decorative and modern. He makes no good arguments for this outrageous claim, just asserts it. Axel Vervoordt has gathered together a group of artists whose works are entirely opposed to Loos’ edict; artists such as El Anatsui, whose category defying, signature metal works have gracefully adorned and draped spaces ranging from the gallery walls and façades of world famous museums to the pages of prestigioius architecture and luxury design magazines. Other artists on show include Kamrooz Aram, Waqas Khan, Zheng Guogu, and Nikita Alexeev. This exhibition is supported by Turkey One Association.
