Due to his artistic accomplishments, El Anatsui within 3 weeks, receives 2 honourary doctorate awards from Harvard University and University of Cape Town.
In an interview, El Anatsui pointed out his love and enjoyment of South African music during his youthful age, and how that type of art partly shaped him. He goes on to discuss that he has striven to strike a balance between Art and Life, and both, he believes, are interrelated expressions, constantly changing and conscientious.
